Möchte mich so gerne mitfreuen.
Tausend Dank.

für die damalige Zeit wahrscheinlich undenkbar, ich denke auch, dass Mama Katherine etwas dagegen gehabt hätte und die Religon noch dazu;

Jackson tribute band brings act to Antioch
Posted: 02/20/2011 12:00:00 AM PST
"Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough" is in its repertoire, and the song just might turn out to be a rallying cry, too.
On paper, it's a Michael Jackson tribute band, but Foreverland is busting the cliche of cheesy copycats with four lead vocalists, four horns and a six-piece rhythm section. For bigger shows, a fifth vocalist adds a Janet Jackson dimension to the group.
Featuring two Pittsburg residents, the group bills itself as a "rocking revue" and is riding a little high from its show at Bimbo's 365 Club, one of San Francisco's premier clubs. Other members hail from Oakland, San Francisco, San Rafael and San Jose.
"Bimbo's is very nice for any band, but when we recently returned as a headliner, it made us very proud to sell it out," said trombonist Dave Arms, of Pittsburg.
East Contra Costa gets a chance to see what all the buzz is about when Foreverland plays Antioch's El Campanil Theatre at 8 p.m. Saturday. The event doubles as a moneymaker for the local American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
The band also recently did a benefit for San Ramon Valley High School's music department.
Foreverland planned to capitalize on Jackson's comeback tour when it formed in 2009, just three months before Jackson's unexpected and headline-grabbing death.
"Like most people, I was blown away at the news," Arms said. "I spent most of my school years listening to the Jackson 5, the Jacksons and M.J. music.
"It didn't take long for us to realize what this turn of events meant for our group."
When asked how 15 members manage to work it all out, Arms said, "I know ... that's a lot of hands in the pie, right? But most of the group, to varying degrees, make a living at music."
He adds that manager Morty Okin, who also plays trumpet, is well-connected and deserves much of the credit for the band's success.
Okin, an Oakland resident, said it started as a "kitschy little thing," but all quickly realized that "it was turning into something much more serious and challenging, so we had to keep adding musicians and vocalists to the pot to really get a huge sound."
Naturally, Okin is a Jackson fan. "I remember going through like five cassettes of 'Thriller' from playing it so much.
"But this band really got me much deeper into Michael. Some of the guys in the band have been super serious M.J. fans for their entire lives."
Arms said the group "as a whole has put so much sweat equity and personal sacrifice into building it" that all feel ownership over Foreverland.
There doesn't seem to be a favorite Jackson song among the band or audience members. "The crowds connect with us on all of it," Arms said. "It's just major energy."
Early on, Foreverland gained attention and audiences for its blend of vocals, strong musicianship and tight horn section.
Even the Jackson camp chimed in, but only because the group's original name was Neverland (Jackson's Santa Barbara County estate.)
"That was insane," Okin said. "(Essentially), they were bullying us" -- thus the name change to end the threats.
Arms said that for most of the band, this is the biggest musical project in which they've been involved. "It's not our music, but the creativity and musicianship of Foreverland may be as good an experience as I will likely be a part of."
Percussionist Lou Esposito II said, "To see people of all ages and races come together at shows to dance and sing along is priceless."
The Pittsburg resident adds that he enjoys the "fantastic multitalent of all the members. The entertainment knowledge that we all have about music and shows is astounding. I'm always amazed I get to perform with this band."
Deirdre Zigler, of Concord, is a Foreverland fan. "My sister told me they were fantastic, and I had to see them."
Even arthritic knees can't prevent her from dancing to the group's music.
"There is so much energy onstage. I walked into Bimbo's using a cane (but) danced the entire set -- the music and show are that good; you can't help yourself, you must dance."
Aside from Jackson's music, Okin said the draws are the band's size and a thankful lack of a tacky Jackson impersonator. "We take our music seriously ... but, we really love playing and singing the music. That seems to resonate with audiences."
